JAMMU, Sept 19: A three-day Padel Clinic led by Mexican international coach Patrice Ramos got underway at Champions Arena on September 18, with 20 players undergoing intensive training aimed at improving their skills and performance.
Ramos, associated with the McDonald's Indian Padel Academy, is conducting the clinic from September 18 to 20, focusing on technical skills, game awareness and match performance.
A spokesperson for the Padel Sports Association of J&K said bringing international-standard coaching to the region had been a key objective of the association.
"It was our desire to provide international-standard coaching to our players for skill upgradation and improvement in performance. This clinic is an important step in that direction," the spokesperson said.
The 20 participating players are also scheduled to compete in an upcoming Indian Padel Tour event in Chandigarh, making the clinic an important preparation opportunity ahead of a tournament featuring leading Padel players from across the country.
Champions Arena, which houses two Padel courts, has been working closely with the association to promote the sport through challenges, workshops, coaching clinics and monthly tournaments.
Padel, which originated in Mexico, enjoys widespread popularity across Latin America and Spain, with Spain regarded as one of the sport's major global centres. The sport is also steadily gaining popularity in India.
The ongoing clinic is expected to provide J&K players with valuable international coaching and competitive preparation ahead of their Chandigarh tournament. |
