Temperature running below normal in J&K

Jammu, June 17: With no let up in snowfall in the upper reaches and rains in the plains, the mercury further dipped in Jammu and Kashmir.
The maximum temperature in Srinagar recorded in the city was 23 degree celsius -- six degrees below normal -- and the minimum was 12.8 degrees -- 2.2 degrees below normal, the Met office said.
It said Jammu recorded a high of 36.4 degree celsius -- 5.4 notches below normal. The city experienced a low of 20.5 degrees -- 7.5 degrees below normal.
Katra, the base camp for Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, was the second hottest place at a maximum of 32.9 degrees and a minimum of 18.7 degree celsius.
Pahalgam, the famous hill resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.6 degree celsius, the lowest in the state. state. The day temperature at the picturesque place, which serves as the base camp for the Amarnath yatra, also dipped to 17.2 degree celsius.
