REASI, Sept 19: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Reasi Police apprehended a suspected drug peddler during naka checking at Chungi, Reasi-Jammu Road, Katra. A Police Party of Police Station Katra, while performing naka duty at about 1605 hours, noticed a person coming on foot from Asia Chowk towards Reasi. On seeing the naka party, the individual attempted to flee from the spot. However, the alert naka party tactfully apprehended him. During questioning, the apprehended person disclosed his identity as Bittu Singh S/o Satpaul Singh, R/o Arli Road, Ward No. 3, Kundrorian, Katra. During his personal search, a white-coloured polythene packet containing brown-coloured powder was recovered from the left pocket of his trousers. The substance was found to be heroin, which was seized as per procedure. In this connection, FIR No. 298/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation has been taken up. |
