Early Times Report
Jammu, June 17: The President of Pradesh Congress Committee Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has said that decks are clear for expansion of Omar Abdullah cabinet and swearing-in can take place anytime this week.
The PCC chief admitted that intensive lobbying from too many candidates for the limited berths delayed expansion of the cabinet. “Cabinet expansion is on the cards and it can take place any time within a couple of days”, Soz said at a press conference here today.
In reply to a question with reagrd to state cabinet expansion prof Soz made a crisp remark saying, "Ek anaar hai aur so bimmar hain". He said , "cabinet expansion is imminent now and may happen with in a couple of days".
On the issue of smooth relations with the coalition partners Prof Soz said that it is an era of coalition politics and we have to live in a coalition. When asked why no action has been taken over the issue of NC's backstabbing on Ladakh parliamentary seat Prof Soz tried to evade a direct reply.
On performance and credibility of the coalition government, in which Congress is a partner with the National Conference, Soz quipped that handling of Shopian incident and its outcome will be a statement on the government’s intentions. He clearly indicated that the findings of the judicial probe will be treated as a 'comment' on the handling of the coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah after he was repeatedly asked to comment on reasons behind stoic silence adopted by the Congress party on the handling of the Shopian case. He, however, observed that the Chief Minister has instituted a judicial probe and it is the only mechanism to nail the culprits.
We all should wait for the findings of the probe, he said repeatedly while inviting PDP leaders to disclose the name of culprits before the judicial probe to facilitate the ongoing probe.
When his attention was drawn towards recent comments made by the former chief minister and union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on the performance of the state government in Jammu and Kashmir Prof Soz appeared little uncomfortable. Please do not ask me to comment on comments made by Mr Azad. “I do not want to comment on his statements”.
During his interaction with the media persons Prof Soz tried his level best to clear the air that he is going to join Raj Bhawan.
“I respect post of Governor and i think highly experienced and senior people should be sent on decorated posts. I want to rub shoulders with the common masses and party workers and as a disciplined soldier of the party i want to rejuvenate the congress party and introduce more discipline with in the ranks” , he added.
