| Altaf distributes assistance of Rs 4.78 lakhs | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 18: “It is the utmost duty of every individual to look to the needs of physically challenged, destitute and other persons belonging to weaker sections of the society besides ensuring their rehabilitation, as they are part and parcel of the social fabric,” said the minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad while distributing financial cheques amounting to Rs 4.78 lakhs among 47 beneficiaries under National Family Benefit Schemes at a function at Ganderbal today. The Minister also distributed pre-matric scholarship to the tune of Rs 31,000 among the students.
Altaf called for maintaining transparency in the distribution of central and state financial assistance among the needy besides ensuring its timely disbursement. He said that chief minister was keen to address public concerns on priority and the administrator machinery need to gear up for timely redressal of their grievances. He said that providing succour and basic amenities to the people is the top-most priority of the government.
On the occasion, it was told that under old age pension scheme an amount of Rs 5.48 crore have been distributed among 19,000 beneficiaries in Ganderbal districts during the last financial year while Rs 10 lakh have been provided under National Family Benefit Scheme in the district during the same period.
