| DC inaugurates 'Didi Ki Rasoi' | | |  Early Times Report
KATHUA, Sept 22: "Didi Ki Rasoi," operated by Galaxy Self Help Group- a Women SGH under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), was inaugurated today at Government Degree College Boys-Kathua. The canteen was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma in the presence of CEO JUDA Parvaiz Naik; District Project Officer Kavita Kumari; CPO Ranjeet Thakur; DUDA officials, members of Galaxy Self Help Group besides faculty members and students of the College. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Self Help Groups in Kathua are doing commendable work across diverse sectors and are playing an important role in creating livelihood opportunities and promoting financial independence among women. He said the District Administration is keen to provide proper handholding and institutional support to such SHGs under various livelihood-oriented initiatives so that they can expand their activities and achieve sustainable growth. Highlighting the objective behind setting up "Didi Ki Rasoi", the DC said the initiative under DAY-NULM seeks to provide clean, hygienic and quality food items to the faculty and students at reasonable rates. He expressed hope that the women-run canteen would cater effectively to the needs of the college community, while maintaining proper sanitation, hygiene and food quality standards. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated DUDA Kathua for facilitating the initiative and providing an opportunity to the SHG to undertake a sustainable livelihood activity. He encouraged the department and SHG members to explore further avenues for strengthening women-led enterprises and expanding livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level. |
