| Govt keen to improve power scenario: Peerzada | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 18: Minister for Education and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has reiterated the resolve of the government to improve power scenario in the state and electrify all the the far-flung areas. For the purpose creation and upgradation of power infrastructure would receive focused attention. The Minister said this while addressing a meeting of officers of Power Development department convened here today to review progress under centrally sponsored scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen VidyutiKaran Yojna (RGGVY) for the twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam. Among others Secretary Education, Mr. G. A. Peer, Special Secretary, Power Development Department Syed Altaf, Chief Engineer M&RE Wing Kashmir, Chief Engineer, Generation Wing Kashmir Mr. Sonam Galson, Superintendent Engineer General Wing PDC and RGGVY, Mr. Iftikar Faroqi, Superintendent Engineer Generation Circle-II Mr. B. C. Sudan, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Technical officer of RGGVY scheme. The meeting held threadbare discussions on various issues relating to improvement of power supply and electrification of un-electrified areas in the twin districts. The Minister was informed that augmentation of 3.15 receiving station to 6.3 MVA receiving station at Hillar and Achabal and from 6.3 MVA to 10 MVA receiving stations at Quimoh, DH Pora, Kokernag and Shangus will be carried out under RGGVY in these districts. It was also informed that reconductoring of 300 km 11 KV line under the scheme is also being carried out to ensure dependable power supply and also to contain electric faults. As many as 601 habitations including 504 un-electrified villages and 97 de-electrified villages will be electrified in Anantnag and Kulgam districts under the scheme.
