| Omar takes up increase in Hajj quota with the Centre | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 18- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the State government has taken up the issue of additional Hajj quota for the state with the Union Government. He said that he has taken up the issue with the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor. The Chief Minister while speaking to a deputation of Hajj aspirants, who called on him in Srinagar, assured them that he will pursue the issue rigorously. Omar Abdullah also met hundreds of individuals and a large number of deputations at his Srinagar Private Office and heard them patiently. People from all over the valley and also parts of Jammu brought to his notice various matters of individual and collective nature. The Chief Minster assured them that their genuine grievances would be addressed speedily. He also gave on-the-spot directions in various cases of urgent nature. During the occasion, he sanctioned Rs. 1.50 lakh assistance to a handicapped for artificial limb and the cheque was handed over to the beneficiary.
