Early Times Report JAMMU, June 18: Honorary Secretary of Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, Rabindra Prasad today visited Sainik School Nagrota, here to interact with the teachers undergoing All India Sainik School Teachers In-Service Training Programme. He was special guest in the lecture delivered by Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Jammu, PK Koul. Speaking on Evaluation and National Curriculum Framework 2005, Koul laid emphasis doing away with the traditional methods of evaluation i.e. written examination and advised teachers for broader aspect of assessment to make the students a better human being. He gave various examples from his own classroom teachings, which were benefited by the teachers attending the ongoing 21-day training programme. Later, Inspecting Officer of Sainik School Society, Brig. Ranjit Singh visited Sainik School Nagrota and updated himself with the activities of host school. He was also briefed with regard to ongoing All India Sainik School Teachers In-Service Training Programme by the Principal, Group Captain, Ajay Kumar and Headmaster, Lt. Col Krishan Yadav through a power point presentation. Registrar of the School Major Sunil Pandita also attended the briefing. Earlier in the on going training programme, Prof Shashikant, former Dean Life Sciences University of Jammu enlightened the teachers on Bio Technology and Global Warming. From Sainik School Sujanpur in Himachal Pradesh, a mathematics teacher, JP Vashisht, was thrilled to know history, concepts, applications and after effects of biotechnology. Prof. NS Gupta, former Head Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, delivered a guest lecture on `Time Management’, where he said time can’t be stretched, but work can be delegated to reduce stress. Dr Shashi Gupta, Head Department of Gynae, Government Medical College Jammu, spoke about “Placenta” to the Biology teachers. Brig. Anil Gupta DDG, NCC J&K spoke about `Attitude’. He explained that attitude can make or mar the career of students if the behavioural problems of students are not handled efficiently and effectively. He suggested various techniques to bring attitudinal changes in the problematic children. While Col. Raman delivered lecture on the requirement of Service Selection Board with special reference to the psychology of cadets of Sainik Schools, Lt. Col. Krishan Yadav, Headmaster of the School spoke about importance of `Mental Fitness’ of the teachers. Prof HL Mishri, Prof SC Gupta, Prof SK Khosa, Prof SD Sharma, Prof PN Kotru, Prof Deepshikha Kotwal, Prof KV Razdan, Prof Dev Anand, Dr Dalbir Singh, Prof PN Koul, Prof AP Singh Prof Mishri, Dr Gurdev, Prof SM Sheikh, Vinay Handoo were among others who enlightened the teachers subject matters. Later, in the day, teachers showcased their presentations on Global Warming, Evolution of Sainik Schools and India’s relation with Pakistan and China.
