| Panthers to intensify campaign against delay in delimitation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 19 The Panthers Party has decided to launch a two-pronged drive for forcing the Government to set up fresh delimitation commission. According to the party vice-president Harsh Dev Singh, the Panthers Party has planned to move an application in the Supreme Court requesting it to quash the constitutional provision providing for delimitation after 2026. Mr Singh said, "During the ensuing budget session of the state legislature we will raise the issue and shall even disrupt the proceedings of the House if the Government refuses to concede "our demand for setting up fresh delimitation commission." He said that it was highly undemocratic that with more area and population had 37 Assembly constituencies against 46 in the valley. He said "we will intensify our campaign against this political imbalance," adding that so long this political imbalance is allowed to continue the level of regional discrimination will get enhanced. He said that it was strange that the Congress, that shares power with the National Conference continues to be silent over the issue when it had in its election manifesto. Harsh Dev said that once this imbalance was removed it would ensure better economic stability for all the three regions.
