The legitimate heirs to the parliament
6/20/2009 12:06:49 AM
Shiv Kumar Padha

The present political scenario in the country has changed many age old universal proverbs like the one “The home is the cradle of society to “Parliament is a cradle of prosparity” to fit to the motives of the many aspirant parent politicians .The difference in both these proverbs is that , in the former case the cradle is rocked and lulled by the parents but in the later case this duty is performed by the government agencies themselves because the powerful politicians pledge their offspring’s at the very birth to the Parliament House , as the symbol of their sacrifice for the nation. Keeping this spirit alive the 15th loksabha this time has many pairs of politician father and son , father and daughter , grand parents and grand children and vice versa. The state assemblies also seem sailing in the same boat ,so far as the affection of state politicians with their kith and kins is concerned .
It is very funny that whenever our shrewd political leaders try to grind about their own axis, they fabricate new excuses like induction of Indian youth and women ilk in the Parliament/state Assemblies to hand over the reins of the governance in their hands .The country men are perplexed as to why do the national youth (male and female) is born in the families of powerful and influential politicians of India only , when in reality there is no dearth of hard working capable ,competent , intelligent , honest , just and patriotic youth in the country. In the guise of women representation, these politicians project and induct women from their own families or from their kiths and kins and not from the families of farmers,
Peasants ,working class or from other fields where women excel in ability and intelligence and who are in close contact with the common masses. and have first hand knowledge of their day today problems.

After all why do our politicians prefer the welfare of their own families to that of the nation for which they have been voted to power. Actually these politicians want to make hay while the sun shines and make haste in feathering their own nests because their future depend upon the fears and frowns of their masters .

The countrymen have no doubt in the capability and intelligence of the youth being inducted in the parliament, rather the nation is proud of these budding politicians ,who are delicate ,sensitive ,handsome and have been brought up in the lap of luxury with silver spoon in the mouth. Who don’t have experience of scorching heat of the summer and chilling cold of winter. Those who have never carried their school bags during the school times. If we turn the pages of our history we find how do the kings used to send their delicate princes to roll in the hot sand of the desert and unbearable cold of the mountains in order to make them resistant to the nature’s hardships, and prepare good rulers and warriors .Countrymen shower all blessings upon these democratic princes to succeed in all the democratic and parliamentary affairs and come out with flying colours. But, can they ever equal those able intelligent and farsighted parliamentarians which this august house has produced in the past.

As a matter of fact India has no scarcity of youth who possess extraordinary qualifications and excel in every field in the international fora ,but these parent sponsored parliamentarians seem to have only one qualification e.g. Issues of the privileged parents and nothing beyond. Once Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru , during his visit to Kashmir, had introduction with the cabinet members of Bakshi Gulam Mohammad the then Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Pandit ji inquired from one of the cabinet members about his qualifications, the answer to the question was, “ No I degree , no I pass but my degree is Wullar (lake) cross.”
If these selfish leaders are not checked and restrained from doing these unparliamentarily practices in parliamentary way they will consider their children as the only legitimate heirs to the parliament and perpetuate stuffing both the houses with women and youth from their families and leave no room for the common man in the law making institutions of the country like the camel of the Arab. Therefore the deprived masses of the country should unite together and come above the narrow parochialism of religion cast creed and sex , put in hard labour and prove their worth in order to make their way to the apex houses where the fate of the countrymen is written .
