| Stranded Sadhus protests in Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 19- As many as 4958 Yatris had the darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji yesterday.According to a Spokesperson of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, another batch of over 6000 Yatris left the Baltal Base Camp for the Holy Cave this morning.The Spokesperson of the Board further stated that a batch of 1860 Yatris left Jammu today for the Baltal Base Camp. Sadhus stage protest in Jammu, block traffic In the meantime hundreds of Sadhus, who had assembled here to head for the Amarnath pilgrimage on Friday, staged anti-government demonstrations alleging lack of facilities at Yatri Niwas. The Sadhus were demanding that they should be allowed to head for the Pilgrimage which has already witnessed delay in its commencement. Reports said that the sadhus shouting anti-government and anti-administration slogans assembled near Canal Road, and blocked vehicular movement. The sadhus were demanding better facilities at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp and permission for proceeding towards the Baltal base camp in Sonamarg. Eyewitnesses said that sadhus alleged that the administration did not allow any sadhu to move beyond Jammu despite two batches of pilgrims being already allowed to proceed towards the cave. The sadhus alleged that they were facing shortage of food items and other essentials as the government has failed to provide any help to the stranded sadhus and yatris. Later senior officials from the administration and the police department arrived on the scene and tried to pacify the agitating sadhus.
