| Patwari’s selection in Udhampur district challenged | | HC issues notice to Government; admits petition | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 20- Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notice to State of Jammu and Kashmir returnable within one week and in the meantime ordered that the selection/ appointment of 14 private respondents as Patwari district cadre Udhampur shall remain subject to the decision of the petition. This direction was passed by the Vacation Judge of J&K High Court Jammu Wing Justice J P Singh in a petition filed by the petitioners challenging the selection of Patwari of District Udhampur on the allegation that one of the member of select committee selected 13 his relatives as Patwari. In the petition filed by Ashok Kumar and Narinder Singh claiming to be post-graduate in Economics and Urdu whereas petitioner No 2 is MA in Urdu, submitted that both the petitioners had applied for the post of Patwari District Cadre Udhampur which was advertised by the respondents vide notice No 10/2005 dated December 29, 2005. The petitioners submitted that the respondents particularly respondent No 5 (SDM) who was associated with the selection process mis conducted himself and indulged in an act of favoritism by selecting 13 of his relatives as Patwari. The petitioners prayed before the Court for quashment of selection list of Patwari of District Cadre Udhampur and also seeking direction to the official respondents to select the petitioners to the post of Patwari District Cadre Udhampur with effect from the date private respondents have been selected.
