| Reservation rules violated in Police promotions | | | Early Times Report Jammu June 20 Expressing serious concern over the violation of state reservation rules being meted out to various reserved categories in promotional benefits in state police department, BJP State General Secretary & former MLA Bali Bhagat has demanded high level inquiry into it. In his statement issued today Bali Bhagat pointed out that on 10-06-09 (order 2065) 58 Sub-Inspector were promoted as Inspectors where 15 SI (SC-7, RBA-4, LAC & ST -2 each) available and eligible SIs were left out and shown as 15 posts "Kept Reserved". He also underlined that on 15-06-09, 104 SIs/ASIs/Head Constables in Telecommunication wing have been promoted but fate of reserve category in not known, similarly in another list declared on 17-06-09 again 42 SIs of Armed Police have promoted as Inspector in which only 2 SCs against 4 figures in it. Further quoting another instance the BJP leader said that in October 2008, 70 Sub-Inspector of Ex-Police (Order 3261) were promoted as Inspectors in which 10 SIs (6 SCs, 2 RBA & 2 ST) were left out and it was only the persuasion of the case some were promoted latter on separately through a Govt Order No. 3261 of 2008. Bali Bhagat said that crystal clear guidance have been issued by the Government in Reservation Act/Policy. BJP Senior leader demanded intervention of State Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to redress the grievances of available eligible officers belonging to reserved category for their promotions by implementing roster under state reservation rules forthwith. He also demanded action against such authorities who are deliberately violating reservation rules.
