VIJAYPUR, Sept 26: Government Degree College, Vijaypur, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sanjeet Kour, successfully organized a series of traditional and local sports activities coupled with a campus cleanliness drive as part of the nationwide 'Swachhata Hi Sewa' campaign. The theme for the event was "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat Viksit Bharat."
The multi-activity event was organized by Mr. Amit Sharma, Director of Physical Education and Sports, in joint collaboration with the NSS Unit (Khidmat) and the NCORD Committee of the college. The coordination was spearheaded by Dr. Arti Sharma, NSS Program Officer and Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, Convenor, NCORD Committee.
The event commenced with a Swachhata Pledge administered to students and faculty members, followed by an introductory briefing on the sports schedule and cleanliness objectives.
Students actively engaged in a series of traditional and local games aimed at promoting wellness and cultural heritage in traditional games Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Pithoo / Lagori, Tug of War (Rassa-Kashi), Hopscotch (Stapoo) and Kokla chipaki. Alongside the sports matches, a intensive Cleanliness Drive was executed targeting the college sports ground and surrounding campus grounds.
The key eco-initiatives included: Zero-Waste Commitment ensuring all event operations produced minimal environmental impact, Plastic-Free Sports Zone with complete ban on single-use plastics during game intervals and activities, Waste Segregation and Collection forystematic collection and post-event disposal of campus waste to leave playing areas spotless, Clean Sports, Clean Campus Promotion fostering community responsibility and environmental ethics among youth through sports.
The event witnessed enthusiastic, high-volume participation from the student body. Prominent faculty members present to encourage the students included Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Choudhary, Prof. Meetu Sharma, Prof. Sonia Devi, Dr. Pooja Gupta, Prof. Anu Bala, Dr. Anoop Singh, Prof. Reetika Sharma, and Prof. Jyoti. The program concluded with a vote of thanks acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and student participants in promoting a cleaner, healthier educational environment. |
