| Siachen Brigade organizes Sadbhavna Mela for ex-servicemen | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | SEPT 25
Siachen Brigade is rendering yeoman’s service to the people of Nubra Valley in Ladakh Region by providing them with various facilities under Operation Sadbahvana. Recently an Ex-servicemen cum Sadbhavana Mela was organized by the Siachen Brigade at Partappur village. Nearly one thousands villagers and ex-servicemen form entire Nubra Valley participated in the Mela. A cultural show was organized by the students of Army Goodwill Schools run by the Brigade. Addressing the gathering Brigadier, Om Parakash Commander, Siachen Brigade remembered the war heroes of Nubra region, who laid down their lives in service of the nation. To honour the War Widows, who have braved the untimely departure of their beloved ones he distributed sewing machines and gifts to them. A tour of 30 elders form Nubra valley was flagged off by Commander, Siachen Brigade. This entourage will be visiting Chandigarh, Delhi Agra, Jaipur and Ajmer and will also meet the President of India Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. A medical camp was organized for the treatment of patients from Nubra valley. Advice in various animal diseases were given in the veterinary camp put up by Army Veterinary services. This Mela was a true reflection of the faith, trust and cooperation villagers have with the Army. |
