CHANDIGARH, Sept 28: Panjab University felicitated MCM student and accomplished skeet shooter and Olympian Raiza Dhillon for her outstanding achievements in shooting. Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, honoured Raiza at a University ceremony, acknowledging her significant contribution to Indian sport. Ms Neena Sharma, Officiating Principal, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, also felicitated the ace shooter.
In recognition of her achievements, Panjab University announced a cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh for Raiza, while Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women honoured her with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh. Raiza has emerged as one of India's leading skeet shooters. She won gold at the Khelo India University Games in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 sessions, and also secured gold at the All India 2025-26 Skeet Shooting Tournament. Her international achievements include gold and silver medals at the Junior World Cup, a silver at the Junior World Championships and several other international gold medals. Raiza secured an Olympic quota in Women's Skeet and represented India at the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the first Indian woman to compete in Olympic skeet.
Adding another landmark to her career, she recently won bronze in the Women's Skeet Team event at the 2026 Asian Games, helping India secure its first-ever Asian Games medal in women's skeet.
Congratulating Raiza, Ms Neena Sharma said that Raiza's achievements are a matter of immense pride for the college. She added that her journey reflects exceptional dedication, discipline and perseverance, and the college is delighted to see her bring laurels to Panjab University, the college and the nation. |
