Patiala, Oct 2: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Shri S. K. Srivastava, PCAO, Patiala Locomotive Works, administered the Swachhata Pledge to officers and employees of PLW, reaffirming their commitment towards cleanliness, hygiene and a clean working environment. The Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign, observed at PLW from 17.09.2026 to 02.10.2026, witnessed enthusiastic participation by officers, employees, RPF personnel, Scouts and the PLW community. During the campaign, PLW achieved 814 Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) against the Railway Board target of 750. Various activities were organised, including cleanliness drives, awareness programmes on solid waste management and four-way waste segregation, door-to-door awareness campaigns, thematic competitions, Nukkad Nataks and awareness on creating a single-use plastic-free workplace. Students were also given exposure visits to the Sewage Treatment Plant to promote awareness about waste management and environmental sustainability. Home composting was promoted among residents, while compost was also provided to residents. A health check-up camp was organised at PLW Hospital for Swachh Mitras and their dependents, benefiting 97 beneficiaries. As part of creative and sustainable initiatives, “Kabadi se Kalakari” was undertaken, wherein railway scrap material was transformed into functional articles and artistic installations for display.
A mass “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” Shramdaan was also organised on 01.10.2026 with the participation of PLW officers, staff, RPF and Scouts. Other activities included a plantation drive under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, mass administration of the Swachhta Pledge, Prabhat Pheris and various cleanliness and awareness activities. The campaign reflected PLW’s continued commitment towards Swachhata, environmental sustainability and the collective responsibility of keeping workplaces and communities clean and healthy. |
