Jammu, Oct 2: NIPER SAS Nagar organised a series of cleanliness, awareness, environmental and community outreach activities from September 17 to October 2, 2026, under the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026. The campaign commenced with an interactive Solid Waste Management awareness programme at Government School, Phase 10, Mohali, where students were sensitised to waste segregation, the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, composting, recycling, avoidance of single-use plastics and responsible waste disposal. Students also took a pledge to adopt responsible waste-management practices. Several cleanliness drives were conducted at City Park, Phase IX; Railway Station, Phase 11; Phase 10 Market; Government School, Phase 10; and the Lake area of Sector 42, Chandigarh. Community advocacy drives in Phase 11 and Sector 67 markets promoted plastic reduction and sustainable waste-management practices. The campaign also featured a Debate Competition on cleanliness, water conservation and rainwater harvesting, and a “Kabad se Jugad – Best out of Waste” competition encouraging creative reuse of waste materials. A cleanliness activity was also undertaken at Fateh Burj, Historical place, Mohali, covering removal of waste and overgrown vegetation. A Health Talk and Health Check-up Camp was also organised providing health awareness and basic screening services to around 45–50 members of the NIPER community. On October 1, a voluntary one-hour cleanliness drive, “Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath,” was conducted at the NIPER Sports Complex. The campaign concluded on October 2 with Swachh Bharat Diwas and the initiative, under which Gulmohar trees were planted on the NIPER campus. The campaign reinforced the message that cleanliness, environmental protection and sustainable practices are a shared responsibility, requiring active participation and collective action. |
