| NSS Unit GDC Ramban concludes week-long 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, Oct 2: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramban successfully concluded the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026, organised from 17 September to 2 October 2026 under the theme "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat." The campaign culminated on Gandhi Jayanti, paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and reaffirming his enduring message of cleanliness, self-discipline and community service. The campaign was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Attri, who encouraged students to make cleanliness a sustained personal and social commitment rather than limiting it to a campaign or occasion. The campaign was led by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir and witnessed active participation from faculty members, NSS volunteers and students. Dr. Abdul Raoof, Director Physical Education; Dr. Sanjay Kumar; Dr. Mohmad Maqbool Waggy; Dr. Sayar Ahmad Sheikh; Dr. Abdul Hamid Kumar, Dr Sameer Ahmed, besides several other faculty members, extended their support and participated in the various activities organised during the campaign. As part of the campaign, the NSS Unit organised a series of activities under four major components which is Swachh Pathshala: YUVA for Swachhata - aimed at sensitising students and youth about cleanliness, hygiene, responsible waste management and their role as ambassadors of Swachhata, Swachhata Gyan Yatra - focused on spreading awareness and taking the message of cleanliness and civic responsibility beyond the classroom and into the wider community, Sports for Swachhata - used sports and physical activities as a medium to engage young people and promote the message of cleanliness, teamwork and social responsibility andSwachhata Se Samriddhi - highlighted the wider social and economic significance of cleanliness and encouraged students to understand Swachhata as an essential component of a healthy, dignified and progressive society. The activities provided NSS volunteers with opportunities to participate in awareness-building, community engagement and other cleanliness-oriented initiatives, while strengthening the spirit of volunteerism and collective responsibility among students. The campaign also sought to connect the idea of cleanliness with the broader vision of a Swachh Bharat and Viksit Bharat, emphasising that development cannot be sustained without healthy communities, clean surroundings and responsible citizens. |
