Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Oct 2: A tense situation unfolded in Udhampur after a man climbed a mobile communication tower and refused to come down, prompting the administration, police and J&K SDRF to launch a rescue operation.
DySP Udhampur Parlad Sharma and Tehsildar Udhampur Jai Singh reached the spot and personally supervised the efforts to bring the man down safely. The administration and police teams have been continuously trying to establish communication with him and convince him to descend from the tower.
Tehsildar Udhampur Jai Singh was also seen making efforts to contact the man. During a conversation, the man reportedly said that if the people gathered around the tower were moved away, he would come down. Following this, officials began clearing the area and continued efforts to persuade him to safely descend.
Meanwhile, SHO Udhampur also attempted to speak with the man and convince him to come down peacefully. Officials are making every possible effort to establish direct communication with him and understand his concerns so that the situation can be resolved without any harm.
A team of J&K SDRF personnel also reached the spot and attempted to approach the man. However, the rescue operation became challenging after he reportedly lit a fire at the top of the tower and started throwing burning material downwards, posing an additional safety risk to the rescuers and people present at the site.
SDRF personnel were seen making repeated efforts to reach the man while maintaining necessary safety precautions. Police and civil administration officials continued negotiations with him, urging him to come down safely.
Meanwhile, a hydraulic rescue machine has also been called to the spot to assist the SDRF and other teams in safely bringing the man down from the tower. The machine is being positioned as part of the efforts to reach the man and facilitate the rescue operation while maintaining safety precautions.
A large number of people gathered at the spot to witness the incident, while police maintained a security cordon and appealed to the public to keep away from the area.
Officials said that continuous efforts are being made to safely bring the man down from the tower and bring the situation under control.
