Rehmat of Punjab clinches Trintha Kesari title

JAMMU, June 21: Punjab wrestler Rehmat Ali of Mallerkotla bagged the 5th Trintha Kesari dangal title beating Prince of Amritsar in Punjab in a neck to neck contest that lasted for 13 minutes at Trintha in Reasi.
Winner Rehmat awarded a cash prize of Rs 4,000 while Prince got Rs 2,500. In all, 43 bouts were played wherein local wrestlers from Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua besides UP, Punjab, Haryana, J&K Police, Army and BSF participated.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Reasi, Abdul Rashid was the chief guest on the occasion while member State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided.
Dangal was organized by Trintha Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the supervision of Shiv Kumar Sharma, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
In the second main bout between Bagga of Amritsar and wrestler Amarjeet of Sirsa in Haryana, lasted for 37 minutes, ended in a draw thereby both contesting wrestlers were given away Rs 2500 each. The third main bout was won by Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla who defeated wrestler Goga of Amritsar. Raju of Ferozpur trounced wrestler Sain Ali of Mallerkotla in the fourth minute. The fifth bout between Anoop of Ferozpur and Babari of Jammu ended in a draw.
Technical officials and members of the organising committee who helped in smooth conduct of this dangal, included Shabir Ahmed Magray, Gian Chand, Onkar Singh, Madan Lal, Balwan Singh, Varinder Kumar, Raju, Sahil Ahmed Magray, Capt Lehar Singh (Retd.), Mohd Fareed and Janak Singh.
OTHER RESULTS: Bir Singh of Reasi bt Liaket Ali of Panthal; Suneet Singh of Kalakot bt Sanjay of Haryana, Teg Ali of Mallerkotla bt Anand of Meerut (UP), Kirpal Singh of J&K Police of Kalakot (Rajouri) bt Akram of Jammu, Manah of Ferozpur bt Nasib Singh of J&K Police of Mahore. Bouts between Attar Deen of Jammu and Gurmeet of Sirsa and Sunny of Ferozpur and Shamsher Singh of Narkot ended in draw.
