PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar clinches Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Women) Championship

JAMMU, Oct 5: PSPS Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, has emerged victorious in the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Women) Tournament for the Session 2026-27, organised under the aegis of Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ). In a commanding performance, the college defeated GGM Science College by 2-0 in the final to lift the championship title.
In the final, GGM Science College faced PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar, with GCW Gandhi Nagar securing a convincing 2-0 victory. The scores were 25-6 and 25-10, reflecting the team's strong control and consistent performance throughout the match.
Earlier in the tournament, GCW Gandhi Nagar defeated SPMR College of Commerce by 2-0, with scores of 25-6 and 25-5, thereby securing its place in the final. In the other semi-final, GGM Science College defeated GCOE by 2-1, with scores of 20-25, 25-10 and 15-12.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vinod Bhakshi, Chief Guest, congratulated the winning team and appreciated the outstanding performance of the players. He highlighted the importance of sports in the overall development of students, emphasising that participation in competitive sports builds discipline, confidence, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal, PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar and Presiding Officer, congratulated the players, coaches and the entire sports team on the remarkable achievement.
Dr. Kour emphasised that the institution remains committed to providing students with opportunities to excel not only academically but also in sports and other co-curricular activities.
The tournament also witnessed the presence and support of Prof. Shrdha Anand, Convener, Sports Committee, GCW Gandhi Nagar, along with officials and physical education professionals from participating colleges.
Among those associated with the tournament were Kajal Premi, College Director of Physical Education & Sports; Ramandeep Kour, Physical Director, GCOE; Tanpreet Singh, Physical Director, GCOE; Ravi Kumar, Physical Director, SPMR College; and Shubham Sharma, Assistant PTI, GGM Science College.
