RAMBAN, Oct 5: Continuing its sustained drive against absconders and proclaimed offenders District Police Ramban has apprehended an absconder who had been evading arrest for the last 33 years since 1993. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohd. Rafiq S/o Mohd. Hussain, R/o Khoz Tangdar, Tehsil Karnah, District Kupwara.
The accused was apprehended from Lakhanpur by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma of Police Station Ramban in connection with FIR No. 14/1993 U/S 366, 34 RPC and FIR No. 118/2008 U/S 376, 366, 109 RPC, both registered at Police Station Ramban.
In the instant matter, a warrant under Section 335 BNSS, corresponding to Section 512 CrPC, had been issued against the accused by the Hon'ble Principal District & Sessions Judge, Ramban and the Hon'ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ramban.
After completion of all requisite legal formalities, the arrested accused was produced before the Hon'ble Principal District & Sessions Judge, Ramban, for further proceedings in accordance with law.
District Police Ramban reiterated its commitment to ensuring that persons evading the process of law are brought before the competent courts and that sustained efforts against absconders shall continue. |
