Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 5: The indefinite peaceful protest by the JKTDC Employees Union entered its ninth consecutive day on Tuesday, with employees reiterating their demand for immediate resolution of several long-pending service, financial and administrative issues confronting the employees and the Corporation. The protest was led by Union President Qamar Din, Chairman Arvind Tickoo and General Secretary Anata Koul, along with other office-bearers and employees. The Union has sought adequate budgetary support for JKTDC, immediate release of pending retirement benefits and remittance of Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) dues, which, according to the employees, have remained pending for nearly 52 months. The employees have also demanded immediate convening of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings, pointing out that no DPC has reportedly been conducted for nearly 12 years, resulting in prolonged stagnation and denial of promotional avenues. Other demands include regularization of long-serving daily wagers, particularly those who have completed more than 20 years of service, timely disbursement of salaries, and extension of Child Care Allowance, Transport Allowance and other applicable UT allowances to JKTDC employees at par with other UT Government employees. The Union has further demanded a special financial package for renovation and upgradation of JKTDC properties across Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen tourism infrastructure, attract more visitors and improve the Corporation's revenue position. A major demand of the employees is the immediate implementation of the approved 40 per cent enhancement in Estate Accommodation Rent. The Union stated that the enhancement was approved by the JKTDC Board of Directors in July 2025 under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, but has reportedly not been implemented so far. |
