Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 7: Under the able guidance of worthy Principal, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Verma, on 7th of October 2026, the Department of Psychology, Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu, in collaboration with Dimaagi Mind Care and Research Centre, Channi Himmat, Jammu, organised a One-Day Awareness Programme on Mental Health and Well-Being of College Students on the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2026, under the theme "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change." In his message, the Principal emphasised the need for educational institutions to adopt a holistic approach towards student well-being. He highlighted that regular mental-health awareness initiatives are essential for strengthening students' coping abilities, reducing stigma associated with psychological difficulties, encouraging timely help-seeking, and promoting a healthy and supportive campus environment. Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Consultant Psychiatrist, Dimaagi Mind Care and Research Centre, Channi Himmat, Jammu, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Speaker, while Sajad Ahmed Qureshi from team Dimaagi participated as the second Speaker. The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Palak Malhotra, the Head of Department of Psychology, who also highlighted the growing importance of mental-health awareness among young people and the need to create safe spaces within educational institutions where students can openly discuss their emotional and psychological concerns. |
