Fresh batch of 1,396 yatris proceeds for Baltal

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 21 : A fresh batch of 1,396 pilgrims today left for Amarnath cave from Yatri Bhawan here amid tight security cover, an official spokesman said.
A convoy of 50 vehicles, including 31 buses and 19 light motor vehicles, carrying fourth batch of pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp the holy shrine at 0515 hrs, the spokesman said, adding the yatris included 305 women, 60 children and 296 Sadhus.
Amarnath Yatra, which had started on June 15 from shorter Baltal route for cave shrine, remained suspended for three days following rains and snowfall en-route.
The annual pilgrimage was earlier scheduled to begin on June 7. Meanwhile, the traditional Pahalgam route to the Amarnath shine remained closed for the pilgrimage due to accumulation of snow at couple of points en route the cave shrine.
