| LAHDC holds meet on construction of Artificial Glacier at Leh | | | Early Times Report
Leh, June 22: To discuss and expresses views on the construction of artificial glacier, meeting was held under the chairmanship of chief executives councilor, LAHDC, Leh Chhering Dorje here today.
While addressing Dorje said that due to global warming, receding of glacier, lack of snow fall and rainfall the construction of artificial glacier, (water reservoir) are the need of hour adding that construction of effective and sustainable project is very imperative to be constructed in near future. He assured the director of science and society division of every cooperation for successful and implementation of such project.
Dr. VC Gyal Director Science and Society Division speaking on the occasion gave details about the various aspects of the project like planning, implementation, management and maintenance etc. He said due to scarcity of water the construction of artificial glacier can be useful for the benefit of people of the area but should be constructed scientifically.
