Rajouri, Oct 11: The Indian Army organised mental health awareness programmes at Surankote in District Poonch and Ratta Jabbar, Chowkiyan, in District Rajouri, respectively, to promote mental well-being, emotional resilience and healthy lifestyles among local youth and villagers. The initiatives were conducted in connection with World Mental Health Day, reflecting the Indian Army’s continued commitment to community welfare and healthcare awareness. At Town Surankote, a mental health awareness lecture was organised on 10 October 2026, in which 25 local youths participated. The lecture focused on stress management, emotional well-being, positive thinking and the importance of overcoming the stigma associated with mental health issues. Participants were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles, maintain open communication and seek timely professional support whenever required. Similarly, on 11 October 2026, the Indian Army organised a Mental Health Awareness Programme and Medical Camp at Ratta Jabbar, Chowkiyan, District Rajouri, under the theme “Mental Well-being: Stronger Mind, Stronger Nation.” The programme highlighted the importance of mental health, stress management and emotional resilience, while basic medical assistance was provided to local villagers. Both initiatives received an encouraging response from the local population and highlighted the importance of mental health awareness, preventive healthcare and community participation in building a healthy and resilient society. Through such people-centric initiatives, the Indian Army continues to promote health awareness, empower local communities and strengthen civil-military relations, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and overall well-being of residents in remote areas of Rajouri and Poonch. |
