Azad promises to put Ramban high on development radar

RAMBAN, JUNE 22 : Assuring liberal funding from the centre for all the ongoing schemes in J&K, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that special focus will be laid on reaching out the benefits of National Rural Health Mission to the far-flung districts.
“The newly carved out district will be given all support to become self-reliant administrative unit. The decision to form eight new districts was taken to ensure that equitable development can take place and big regions do not eat away the share of smaller and far-flung regions. I have no doubt that Ramban in a few years would emerge on the development radar as an economically prosperous district of the state, Mr. Azad said.
The Union minister while addressing public meetings at Ramban and Banihal.
He was accompanied by MP Ch. Lal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Mr. Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLAs Mr. Ashok Kumar,Mr. Aijaz Ahmad, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, Mr. G.M Saroori, Mr. Vikar Rasool Wani and District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban Mr. Kulbushan Magotra.
Deliberating on the measures to boost the economy of the region, Mr. Azad asked the Minister for Tourism and Culture to constitute a Tourism Development Authority, Banihal for enlisting the region on the tourism map. He said that the area has a tremendous tourism potential which needs to be harnessed in a manner that the pristine beauty of the place is not disturbed, adding that the step will give considerable fillip to employment opportunities as well as local economy. He assured the people that all the road projects initiated in the region will be completed on time.
Thanking the people of the district for their whole-hearted support, Mr. Azad said that he is aware of their problems and would do his utmost to come upto their expectations. He asked the people to be aware about the development schemes meant for their upliftment besides, keep a close eye on the ongoing development works in their region. This, he said would help keep a broad check on the executing agencies and ensure quality in the works. He said that all efforts are on to develop the requisite infrastructure in the newly carved out district. Earlier, the Union Minister along with other ministers and district administration visited all the ongoing development works in the district.
He visited the newly constructed Trauma Centre near District Hospital, Ramban at a cost of Rs. 1.75 crore and took a round of operation theatre, anesthesia and other wards. At District Hospital, Ramban, he inspected post-operation ward, general ward and also interacted with the patients about the medical facilities being provided to them in the hospital. Director, Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Jasbir Singh also accompanied him.
Mr. Azad also held a meeting of the health functionaries in the District in which he exhorted upon them to work with dedication and render self-less service to the ailing.
On public demand, Mr. Azad directed the Sericulture department to identify land for development of park outside the city limits of Ramban.
At Banihal, Mr. Azad distributed Rs. 24 lakh as cash compensation to 23 militancy affected victims under SRO-43. He also distributed first cash installment of Rs.6.30 lakh to 21 homeless Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. He announced that work of ITI and Gujjar Hostel at Banihal will commence soon.
