| 1407 employed in small industries in rajouri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, JUNE 22 : As many as 526 Small Scale Industrial (SSI) units are currently functional in Rajouri district providing employment to 1407 skilled and unskilled persons. Reviewing the achievements registered in industries sector, the District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, S. Jaipal Singh was apprised that 141 provisional and 21 formal registrations have been made during the last financial year. The DIC has also imparted training to interested persons in knitting trade at four training centres located at Manpur, Nowshera, Upper Channi in Sunderbani, Darmeen in Thannamandi and Kardinu in Kalakote blocks of Rajouri district. The trainees were also provided stipend at the rate of Rs. 60 each per month. The department has also established a carpentry training centre at Balijaralan where 20 trainees were imparted training in the carpentry and were given a stipend of Rs. 60 per month. An expenditure of Rs. 10.19 lakh stands utilized as interest subsidy in favour of 131 trained beneficiaries in different trades for establishment of their income generating units. In addition, 20 cases under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) have been sponsored as against 80 applications received for loan assistance. Likewise, during the period 17 cases were sanctioned by various banks to the tune of Rs. 51 lakh and the department sanctioned Rs. 17.25 lakh as subsidy in favour of the loanees. Under the programme, eight awareness camps were also organized by the DIC for creating awareness about the incentives under PMEGP.
