| Academy installs Memorial Plaque at the grave of Ghulam Ali Majboor | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 22 -Rich tributes were paid to legendary poet, writer, actor, director and folklorist late Ghulam Ali Majboor, today at his native village Wathoora in Budgam district. The function was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to install a memorial plaque at the grave of late poet who left heavenly abode few days back. Secretary Academy, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, unveiled the memorial plaque in presence of galaxy of writers, intellectuals, cultural luminaries and folk artists of Kashmir valley Highlighting the achievements and contributions of late Majboor in various spheres of culture Manhas, described him a cultural legend who served the cause of culture throughout his life and was instrumental in glorifying the ancient theatre of Kashmir. Such people never die and by virtue of their contribution they are always remembered, he added. He recalled the close association of late Majboor with the Academy who with his pen and by virtue of his field work created such an imprint which would be written with golden letters. A paper about the life and contribution of Majboor was presented by Talha Jahangir and noted writers viz Syed Rasool Pompur, Dr. Farooq Fayaz, Zareef Ahmad Zareef and other people paid their floral tributes to the departed soul. Ghulam Nabi Gowher, in his presidential address hailed efforts of the Academy in remembering the cultural luminaries of the state which include Majboor as well. He persuaded upon the Academy to carry forward the mission of Majboor. A Kashmiri book entitled “Bhand Pather” written by Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Aajiz was also released on the occasion.
