Jammu, June 22: The Union Minister for Health and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad take on deputation to his office some senior IAS officers of Jammu and Kashmir cadre and the choices are learnt to be quite obvious.
Sources said that to keep his linkage intact with Jammu and Kashmir, Azad is intending to take local IAS officers on deputation to his office so that they can liaise on the home state affairs. Azad’s intentions of rebuilding and strengthening his political constituency in Jammu and Kashmir are no more secrets and deputation of home state cadre officers to his office in New Delhi may help further the cause.
Sources informed Early Times that Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Anil Goswami, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal are among his choices. Though the Union Health Minister plans to take on board four officers from Jammu and Kashmir but he is reported to have zeroed in on the two. “Azad is expected to write to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to to relieve the officers for central deputation”, said a source close to him.
Anil Goswami has already worked as Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s office during Azad’s tenure. Goswami had no recent deputation postings with the Center and his posting is likely to be sought by the Minister in Health Ministry.
Kotwal had also served with Azad as Secretary in the Chief Minister’s office and he was made responsible for attending to issues of the people of Doda region –Azad’s home turf. In Azad’s New Delhi office he may be again on the same assignment. Kotwal also comes from Bhaderwah.
