Congress must restore dignity in Politics: Rekha Mahajan on Kharge's remark

Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Oct 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President, Jammu & Kashmir, Rekha Mahajan, strongly condemned the reported objectionable remark by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Patna, accusing the Congress leadership of lowering political standards and substituting constructive opposition with personal attacks.
Rekha Mahajan was addressing an organisational meeting organised by BJP District Akhnoor under the presidentship of District President Kuldeep Banotra. MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, former MLA Rajiv Sharma,Seh Prabhari Vaishno Devi , district team members and Mandal Presidents were present. The meeting also discussed upcoming organisational programmes and strategies to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Reacting to the controversy, Rekha Mahajan said, "First the Prime Minister's mother, now his late father-has the Congress leadership completely lost its sense of political decorum? Political opposition is essential to democracy, but targeting the Prime Minister's family cannot be justified as criticism. Such language reflects a disturbing decline in political discourse."
She asserted that the Prime Minister's office represents the constitutional authority and democratic mandate of the people of India. She said Congress leaders have every right to question the government's policies and decisions, but personal attacks cannot replace facts, arguments or credible alternatives.
Rekha Mahajan demanded that the Congress high command, including Sonia Gandhi, clarify its position on the reported remark and take responsibility for maintaining dignity in public life. She called upon the party to apologise if the statement was made as reported, stressing that senior leaders must be accountable for their public statements.
MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat highlighting the party's "Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao" campaign, said that protecting democracy and eliminating political anarchy must remain a collective national priority. He accused the Congress of promoting political instability, confrontation and misleading narratives instead of playing the role of a responsible opposition. Bhagat asserted that democracy cannot be strengthened through disruptive politics, personal attacks or attempts to undermine constitutional institutions.
BJP District President Kuldeep Banotra called upon BJP workers to strengthen their grassroots outreach and engage directly with the public to highlight what the party describes as the Congress's misdeeds, political failures and decisions affecting the people. He urged party workers to take the BJP's message to every household, present facts before the public and create awareness about the importance of accountable governance, development and public welfare.
