| 17425 ReTs regularized on completion of five year tenure | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 23: In order to ensure effective implementation of Serva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the state, MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil stressed upon the officers of education department to adhere to the guidelines issued in this regard by the government from time to time. Mr. Vakil was chairing meeting of the Departmental Related Committee on Education here today. The meeting was attended by Legislators Mr. Javed Ahmad Rana, Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah, Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat besides officers of education department and Council Secretariat. Mr. Vakil impressed upon the officers to regularly convene district level review meetings. He also stressed for conducting frequent visits of schools in their respective jurisdiction to improve working of the education system besides ensure punctuality of the teachers. The Additional Secretary Education while giving details of criteria for appointing Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReTs) under SSA informed the meeting that so far 32,750 educated youth were engaged as ReTs out of these 17,425 have been regularized so far as teachers after completion of their five years tenure. Another meeting of Departmental Related Committee chaired by MLC Mr. Murtaza Ahmad Khan which was attended by Legislators, Mr. M. Y. Taing, Mr. Mohammad Amin Bhat and Mr. Bashir Ahmad Magray was also convened at the Council Complex today. The Committee discussed the functioning of Rural Development, Agriculture, Horticulture and Works Departments and decided that on spot inspections would be conducted to monitor the pace of development works under execution in these departments.
