| Akhnoor hospital to leave additional infrastructure | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JUNE 27 -Reiterating that the government is committed to provide a conducive environment to the doctors and paramedical staff at their work place, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma today called upon the medical fraternity to perform their duties with utmost dedication and missionary zeal to provide best possible medicare to the patients. Mr. Sharma was addressing the people at Akhnoor after laying the foundation stone of an additional residential accommodation at District Hospital, Akhnoor to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.57 crore. This additional accommodation when completed will house 9 doctors and an equal number of para-medical staff of the District Hospital and will be completed within one year. All the OPD counters will be made air-conditioned and fully furnished very shortly, he said. The minister disclosed that an accidental hospital worth Rs. 58 lakh is coming up at Sunderbani and Primary Health Centres at Jourian and Chowki-Chowra are being strengthened with OPD blocks to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.10 crore and Rs. 8 crore respectively. The department has decided to provide a critical care ambulance costing Rs. 32 lakh at each District Hospital and there shall be one ambulance for each 25 kms distance so that patients may not suffer for want of specialized treatment. The Health Minister said that Sub District Hospital Akhnoor has been graded as number one with a total OPD of 1.20 lakh per year among all the Sub District Hospitals in the state.
