| Batwal community demands economic package | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 27: The J&K Batwal community have urged upon the state government to provide economic package to the community on the basis of the report of ethnographic study conducted by central planning commission in 1994. Addressing a media person here today the Batwal association president and ex MLA Satpal Lakhotra said that Bhatwal community has been totally deprived of its due share despite being a sizeable segment of population in the state. Association, chairman, Ajaib Singh Motan demanded representation for the people of the Batwal Community in Government forums and relaxation in norms prescribed by the state services selection board (SSB) and pubic service commission (PSC) in such a manner that maximum candidates of the Batwal community get easily selected in govt. services. Association members drew kind attention of the governor N.N. Vohra towards representation submitted at Raj Bhawan, Jammu and solicited an early action in the matter. Prominent among those who participated in the press conference included Capt Raj Kaith, Capt Om Parkash, Capt Behari Lal, R.L. Kaith, Dr. Ramesh Kaith, Subedar Ghasita Ram, Subedar Gunni Ram, Subedar Ramesh Sargotra, Subedar Thoru Ram Dogra, Havildar Dilay Ram, Havildar Uttam Chand, Kamal Singh, O.P. Sargotra, Thoru Ram Tugga etc.
