Early Times Report JAMMU, June 28: Wrestler Onkar Singh of Border Security Force (BSF) bagged the 40th Laiter Kesari title outplaying wrestler Akram of Jammu in a neck to neck contest at Shiv Mandir Laiter in block Pouni of district Reasi.
Onkar was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,000 along with gold medal while a cash prize of Rs 1,500 was given away to runner up, Akram. In all, 35 bouts took place wherein local wrestlers from Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua and those from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Harayana, Punjab, J&K Police, Indian Army and BSF participated.
Dangal was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association in association with Laiter Dangal Committee.
President of Indian Style Wrestling Association and member J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma was chief guest on the occasion while general secretary of the Association, Rakesh Khajuria presided. The SDPO Reasi, Abdul Rashid, joint secretary of the Association, Sanjeev Sharma and Sub-Inspector, Arun Sharma were guests of honour.
The second main bout was won by Babari of Shiv Mandir Akhara Jammu defeated Sandeep Raina of Harayana. A cash prize of Rs 1,500 was given away to Babari while Sandeep got Rs 1,000. Third bout between Attar Deen of Jammuand Praladh Singh of Kalakote, lasted for 23 minutes, ended in a draw. Nissar Ali of Jammu won fourth main bout outplaying Pritam Singh of Reasi. In the 5th main bout Gulshan Kumar of J&K Police defeated Kala of Nargara in Jammu. Suneet Singh of Kalakote won the sixth bout outplaying Mukesh of Harayana. Seventh bout fought between wrestler Dillar Khan of Jammu and Karnail Singh of Reasi ended in a draw.

Members and technical officials, who helped in smooth conduct of dangal included Rattan Lal (Headmaster), Pandit Hem Raj, Kewal Krishan, Des Raj, Parveen Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Subash Sharma, Mohan Lal, KC Sharma, Mohd. Fareed and Rashpal Sharma.
