DGP meets families of cops

Srinagar, June 29: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuldeep Khoda today held darbar with families of police personnel at Police Welfare Centre Bemina and assured the families of police martyrs and serving personnel that whole Police establishment is always with them to redress their grievances.
Addressing the families of police martyrs and serving police personnel at a function organized by Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police at Police Housing Colony Bemina today, Mr. Khoda said that the police personnel working in the organization remains always far off from their native places and they are not able to look after their families. He said that welfare of police personnel and their families is always his priority and said that every endeavor would be made to mitigate their problems.
The DGP said that besides other welfare measures top priority is given to the education of wards of police personnel and in this regard the educational standard of the police public schools across the State has been improved and latest facilities have been provided in these schools. He stressed upon the police wives to realize their responsibilities in getting their children quality education.
Mr. Khoda said that various scholarships are also being granted to the talented wards of police personnel to guarantee their education. He said the department is also organizing various talent hunt competitions where the children could display their talent.
During the interaction with families of martyrs and other police personnel, the DGP heard their problems patiently and discussed these with authorities, present on the occasion and gave on spot instructions to solve the problems on priority.
On the occasion, Mr. Khoda handed over one Wheel Chair to Head Constable, Mr. Abdul Hamid, who was rendered handicapped while performing his duties. He also sanctioned financial assistance of Rs. 20,000 to a widow of police personnel.
Earlier, DGP inaugurated State-of-the art Physical Fitness Centre in the premises of Police Welfare Centre for the families of police personnel. The Centre is equipped with latest equipments and facilities. He said that for maintaining better health, the facility should be utilized properly.
Among others, the function was attended by IGP J&K Armed, Sheikh Owais Ahmed, DIG (Armed) Kashmir, Mr. Rafiq-ul-Hassan, DIG, CKR, Mr. Muneer Ahmed Khan, SSP, Srinagar Mr. Afdaul Mujataba and other police officers.
