| Soldier killed in firing near LoC | | | Early times Report Poonch, June 29: An Army jawan was killed and another injured in an exchange of fire between security forces and infiltrating militants near the LoC in Poonch district, defence sources said here on Monday. A group of militants, who had sneaked into Indian territory from across the LoC, were challenged by Army troops at forward post in Khari last night. The militants resorted to firing, which was retaliated by the troops, they said adding in the ensuing encounter a jawan identified as Mohinder Singh was killed and another jawan sustained injuries. The injured jawan has been evacuated and rushed to hospital for treatment. The Army was conducting searches in the area to track down the militants, they said. The sources made it clear that there was no ceasefire violation as there was no firing by Pakistani troops.
