| Romesh reviews flood Damages in Anantnag | | Visits various areas, interacts with people | | Srinagar, September 26 –Minister of state for public health engineering, Flood control, Industries and commerce today reviewed working of all the departments under his charge at Anantnag. Deputy commissioner Anantnag G A Peer apprised the minister about the post flood situation of the district and measures taken to provide succor to the people of the affected areas of the district. It was stated that more than sixty percent water supply schemes of the district are dependent on river Jehulam, Vashav Streems and kulls as such received severe damages and accordingly require urghent attention for full restoration. Superintendenting Engineer Anantnag (Hydraulic) while presenting a detailed report regarding the working of PHE, Irrigation and flood control department, apprised the minister that water supply schemes of the district were damaged due to the floods. He informed that alone in flood control and irrigation sector Rupees 10 crore. The minister issued on spot directions to the engineers and other officers to ensure that no one at least during the Holy month of Ramadan should face scarcity of portable water, ration, electricity etc Minister asked the officers to monitor the working of their concerned departments so that public money is utilized properly and in transparent manner. |
