| Indian student wins big award at Australian university | | | Agencies Sydney, June 30 Within the racial attacks on Indian one Indian claimed a big prize by winning the International Student of the Year award at a prestigious university meet. Paramjeet Singh (21) has brought cheer to the thousands of Indian students in Australia, a group traumatised by the recent spate of attacks on them who was declared as one of the top 35 students in TAFE (Western Sydney) for the year 2008. He took the award for International Student of the Year. Paramjeet completed a two-year Diploma in Information Technology (Software Development) at Mount Druitt College in 2008. The Amritsar-born student has enrolled this year for a Bachelor's degree in IT at University of Western Sydney. He finished his diploma at Mount Druitt College last December. Paramjeet and his fellow-awardees were selected from more than 80,000 students enrolled at TAFE NSW in 2008.
