| Hoteliers hail decision on artificial lake | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 30: All Jammu hotels and lodges association has welcomed of conceding their pending demand for creation of artificial lake in the river Tawi, which can prove as a great source of attraction for the tourists. As per press release a deputation of hoteliers of Jammu led by Inderjeet Khajuria, called upon the chief minister, Omar Abdullah yesterday was told by the latter that the government has already sanctioned creation of a lake in the river Tawi, for which a sum of Rs 1400 crore has been earmarked and out of which Rs 2 crore have already been released. The association demanded that the proposed lake should be setup between the main Tawi bridge and the bridge at Gujjar Nagar. In a meeting of the hoteliers association held today stressed upon its demand made to the chief minister against the move to shift general bus stand Jammufrom the present site and its diversification to separate four bus stands for different routes far away from Jammu city. They pleaded that with the extension of rail line to Katra, the business of Jammu city will receive a great setback and if bus stand is also shifted from the main town will compound the problem and lead to total loss of business in the further by diversifying the bus stand at different locations. The association also demanded removal of negative list from SRO 72 1995, under which Jammu city, Katra, Patnitop, along with Srinagar, Phalamgam and Gulmarg have been kept in the negative list for providing incentives for development of tourism infrastructure. They also demanded extension of the benefits of eco tourism project of 2004 to Jammu region.
