| State chess teams named for nationals | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 30: To prepare the teams in advance, the All Jammu and Chess Association has finalized the state teams in different age groups for different national level competitions ahead.
“We have picked the boys purely on performance basis for different national level events. In fact, performance in the recently concluded state champions in senior and junior categories considered the basis for the final selection,” general secretary of the Association, Baldev Raj told SAN.
In senior and under-19 categories, top four boys were taken in the team, while in junior groups of under-17, under-15 and under-13, first and second position holders are there in the state team.
“The first event at the national level is senior national championship scheduled to be held in mid of August in Kolkotta. It will be followed by other competitions as per the schedule of All India Chess Federation,” he informed.
THE TEAMS: Senior Men: Sumit Grover, Rajinder Singh Wazir, Ritwan Sauntra and Imtiyaz Lone. Under-19: Ritwan Sauntra, Danish Pathania, Zuhaib Hassan and Abhishek Nayal. Under-17: Danish Pathania and Abhishek Nayal. Under-15: Danish Pathania and Agrim Pandotra. Under-13: Agrim Pandotra and Chatanya Sharma.
