| Rs 14 cr artificial lake coming up on Tawi banks | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JUNE 30 - Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din convened a meeting with Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Engineer PHE Mr. V. K. Abrol, Chief Engineer Irrigation Mr. Dalip Bakshi, in Civil Secretariat, here this morning. Discussing the proposed artificial lake being developed near River Tawi at a cost of Rs. 14 crore, the Minister said that as Rs. 2 crore have already been released modalities need to be worked out for starting the work immediately on the project. He directed for preparing the project report for further submission. Appraisal of the monitoring mechanism of CAPD, Jammu was also taken in the meeting. Expressing concern over the drought like situation in Jammu region, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din emphasized on increasing tanker service in affected areas. He instructed for taking necessary steps to alleviate water crisis in the region. Later, in a public hearing, the inhabitants from peripheral areas of Jammu and far-flung areas apprised the minister about the water supply position of their respective areas. Several deputations from Bhatindi, Sunjwan, Kheri, Chuvadi and adjoining villages putforth their grievances which were discussed with the concerned Chief Engineer and mitigated on the spot.
