| Government unleashing ruthless violence : PDP | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 30: The reign of terror unleashed by the government on peaceful citizens reflects the fascist mindset of the ruling coalition led by National conference, said PDD leader Mohammed Dilawar Mir in a statement here today. Strongly condemning the use of brutal force in Baramulla and Shopian in which precious lives were lost, Mir said that instead of opening its guns on the people the government should improve its own functioning and ensure that the guardians of life and property do not turn into enemies of people. Dilawar Mir said government should read the writing on the wall that it can not get away with anti- people policies any more. The people of the state have realized their rights and will continue to fight against official terror and excesses by police and security forces. He said the PDP was determined to carry forward its campaign for full restoration of the civil liberties of the people and their democratic rights. Referring to the recent incidents of misbehavior with women even after the out cry against Shopian tragedy Mir said the insensitivity of the government to these blatant violations had snatched from it any moral right to govern. He said that valiant resistance put up by the residents of Shopian was touching a sympathetic chord all across the state and the situation had assumed dangerous proportions. The government instead of speeding up the investigation to punish the culprits was trying to sidetrack the issue with one cover up attempt followed by another.
