| Manmohan briefs Kalam on Musharraf meeting | | |
Tuesday September 26,New Delhi, Sep 26 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who turned 74 Tuesday, met President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam here to brief him about his recent visit to Brazil and Cuba, as also his meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf.
In the 30-minute meeting, Kalam was apprised about Manmohan Singh's talks with global leaders - including Musharraf - on the margins of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Havana, an official statement said.
During Manmohan Singh's meeting with the Pakistani leader, India and Pakistan had agreed to resume official level talks between the two sides that was put off following the July Mumbai blasts and set up a joint anti-terrorism mechanism.
Kalam, in turn, informed the prime minister about his recent visit to Tamil Nadu and Kerala during which he visited the Kudankulum Atomic Power Project and also attended an industry seminar to push the information technology industry.
Earlier in the day, Kalam had sent a bouquet of flowers to Manmohan Singh on his birthday. He personally conveyed his greetings to the prime minister during their meeting in Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential palace.
