| Peace process and composite dialogue did not bring any change in HR situation in JK: Mirwaiz | | | Srinagar, September 26: Chairman APHC, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq has in a statement addressed to annual coordination meeting of Organisation of Islamic Conference said that neither the peace process nor the composite dialogue between India, Pakistan and All Parties Hurriyat Conference has changed human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir state. Stating that the international community in general and OIC in particular can play a substantive role to stop right violations in the state, Mirwaiz Umer said " we believe measures like demilitarization and withdrawal of troops from urban areas will have a very positive effect in easing the everyday lives of Kashmiris. Regrettably the Indian Government has not shown any flexibility or desire to engage in any constructive dialogue on these issues". Listing demands for strengthening peace process, Mirwaiz has sought release of all political prisoners, demilitarization of urban areas, repealing of draconian laws, removal of bunkers from villages and towns and tangible action in case of disappeared persons. Seeking a permanent seat for the true representatives of Jammu and Kashmir State in OIC, Mirwaiz Umer desired to open offices of APHC in capital cities of the member countries of OIC. |
