| Congress Jammu unit hails railway, budget | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 4: A meeting of district congress committee Jammu (Rural) was held at PCC HQ, Jammu under the chairmanship of Dharampal Sharma, ex-MP and senior vice president PCC. The meeting in a resolution congratulated congress president & UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi for taking the party to a thrilling victory in the Lok Sabha elections. The meeting hailed the union railway budget present by union railway minister Mamta Banerji in the parliament and described it as a pro-people budget. The budget has provision for several improvement in the railway service besides taking care of the safety, security and other measures for expanding the services without hike in the passengers fare and freight rates. The budget has also taken care of the interests of our state although there is need to do further keeping in view the ever increasing number of pilgrims and the tourists to the state. It was also resolved in the meeting that party activities will be geared up at district and block levels, as per the directions of the president Pradesh congress committee Prof. Saifuddin Soz, in order to highlight the problems of people and to seek their redressal. The party units at grass root levels will be further strengthened in view of the panchayat elections which are due in the state. The meeting urged the party workers to unitedly work for the strengthening of the party and to come leadership of the party and its policies and programmes in the state and in the country. The party is duty bound to take up the issues of the people and monitor the various central and state government welfare programme and development schemes for their proper implementations and executions. Prominent among those who attended the meeting S. Gurmukh Singh, Gulchain Singh Charak, Vinod Sharma, Amlok Singh, Hans Raj Bhagat, Suman Bhagat president DCC, Gharu Ram, Darshan Mahila working president DCC ( R), Ch. Hamid, DCC office bearers and block president of Jammu.
