| Ayurvedic Congress held in Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 04 -In order to strengthen the existing infrastructure and to provide better medicare facilities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Government is contemplating to post one ISM doctor in each Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the State very soon. Due to the growing popularity of AYUSH among the general masses throughout the country, Jammu and Kashmir Government will ensure the services of ISM doctors in government set up with necessary medicines and facilities. This has been disclosed by the Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma at a function organized by the Jammu Kashmir Chapter of All India Ayurvedic Congress at Jammu Club here today. Laying stress on the doctors to improve the quality of service to the patients, the Minister said that Government will ensure necessary infrastructure in health institutions, but doctors have to deliver as per the expectations of the patients. He also stressed for improving the work culture in the health institutions, adding that promotions and other incentives of the doctors and para-medics will depend on his/her performance. He said that initiative of professional audit within the department has been started and performance of each one will be reflected in their APRs. Mr. Sharma said that Government has devised a comprehensive transfer policy in the Health Department and every doctor, para-medico will get an opportunity to serve in the urban area as well. The doctors, who will willingly opt to serve in the rural and far-flung areas, will get the additional incentives than their urban counterparts. He said under National Health Rural Mission (NRHM), the Government is going to notify three categories of areas, semi-urban, rural and far-flung areas and incentives to the doctors and para-medicos will be determined on the basis of these categories, the Minister added. The Minister further revealed that government is seriously looking for establishing one Unani College at Srinagar and one Ayurvedic College at Jammu to give boost to AYUSH. He referred to the recent meetings with the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad and team of officers of Government of India, wherein all such issues were discussed and agreed by them in principle. He also said that for producing herbal products, botanical gardens will be established in each district of the State.
